LIFE, Spirit, and Wellness Holistic Health and Healing – Bridging Faith and Mental Health Communities Summit . The event will be held at the PHSC Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch Conference Center, 2727 Mansfield Blvd., Wesley Chapel.
Emery Ailes, D.Min., PHSC LIFE program coordinator, will be the moderator for the plenary panel discussion featuring Alice Hade; Allison Haig, Psy.D. licensed psychologist, clinical director, Tampa Jewish Family Services; Peter Lally, licensed clinical social worker, senior care management director, Tampa Jewish Family Services; Imam Hassan Sultan, CEO, The Muslim Connection, Tampa; Pastor Douglas Zipper, United Methodist Church of Shady Hills Florida; Ryan Morris, PHSC student; John Mitten, PHSC DBOT, Hernando County commissioner and Chic-fil-A proprietor; Garrett Potts, philosophy and religious studies, University of South Florida; and representatives from Humana Health Insurance provider. Breakout sessions will focus on suicide and substance abuse awareness and prevention, and finding solutions to move forward and to heal after traumatic events.
“The forum will engage and empower individuals, congregations, and public and private agencies to unite for a discussion about mental health, substance abuse, wellness and recovery. Bridging the faith-based and local clinical communities to evaluate and identify needs and resources will assist not only our students, but all residents in Pasco and Hernando counties,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., PHSC president.
In addition to Pasco-Hernando State College, community partners include National Alliance on Mental Illness, Pasco Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention, BayCare Behavioral Health – Community Health Activation Team (CHAT), American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Take Stock in Children, James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Pasco Aware.
