A.I.M. workshops for March

March 8, 2010 – 6:00pm-7:30pm

Drawing in the Grid

Age Group: 4th grade to 8th grade (Limit 15 students)

Place: Pasco-Hernando Community College, Dade City Room A-240

Instructor: Breanna Perry

Fee: $10 Members; $15 non-members

The students will learn how to use a grid to create and recreate a picture moving from small to larger scale.  Students will explore how this technique can be used to create backdrops and other scenery.

March 13, 2010 – 12:30pm-2:30pm

Stage Management 101

Age Group: 14 years old and up (Limit 15 students)

Place: Alliance Church

Instructor: Megan Lemasney

Fee: $15 member; $20 non-member

The students will learn about the role and function of a stage manager from pre-production through performance and strike. The students will learn about the basic equipment found in a stage manager’s box, the various forms used by a stage manager during rehearsal and performance, how to denote blocking in the stage manager’s prompt book and more.

March 22, 2010 – 6:00-7:30pm

Creative Movement and Narrative Pantomime

Age Group: K-3rd grade  (Limit 15 students)

Place: Pasco-Hernando Community College, Dade City    Room A-240

Instructor:  Connie Frankel

Fee:  $10 members; $15 non-members

The students explore ways to use their bodies to stimulate their creativity and expression.  They will work on creating tableaux and communicating/experiencing a story through movement.

April 5th – 26th (Mondays) – 6-7p.m.

Page to Stage

Age Group:  9th grade to 12th grade (Limit 20 students)

Place: Pasco-Hernando Community College, Dade City  Room A-240

Instructor: Connie LaMarca-Frankel

Fee: $50 members; $60 non-members

In a series of four workshops, the students will read a one act play with an eye to producing the play on a stage.  They will explore the different aspects of production such as costume, set, prop, and lighting design.  The students will do the research necessary to develop these designs and create poster boards illustrating their design ideas.  The students will also learn how a director approaches a text for production and have the opportunity to work with small pieces of the script as either actors or directors.

April 17, 2010 – 9:00-11:00am

Stage Combat 101

Age Group: 7th grade to 12th grade (Limit 16 students)

Place: Darby Community Church

Instructor: Matthew Frankel

Fee: $15 member; $20 non-member

Students will learn some of the basic of hand-to-hand combats such as slaps, punches, and reactions and how to fall.  The emphasis will be on safety and control.  The students will also get an overview of basic fight design and directing.

Mask Making and Narrative Pantomime

Age Group: K-3rd grade  (Limit 15 students)

Place: Pasco-Hernando Community College, Dade City    Room A-240

Instructor:  Connie Frankel

Fee:  $10 members; $15 non-members

The students will make their own simple masks and re-create the story of Where the Wild Things Are story through narrative pantomime.
